Chocolate Date: Nov 10
Hey gang! Long time, no hear, huh? It’s been tougher to post since I got my first full-time job. Today’s chocolate confection was a Starbucks Chocolate Blackout cupcake. YUM!
HOW WAS YOUR MONTH?
It was so busy! We kicked it off October 4 with the AIGA 25th Anniversary Party at Parkside Tavern. My good friend Chris Murphy took home the grand prize! Then there’s the endless string of Halloween festivities, a fall craft beer tasting, and an eco-festival featuring local artisans selling neo-hippie specialties such as bags, hats and tye-dyed tees.
HAVE YOU READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?
I finished “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” in one afternoon it was so good! Then I picked up author Helen Fielding’s more recent novel “Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination” for .50 at the used bookstore last week. I also snagged a copy of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” before the movie comes out. The same goes for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Alabama not being a cultural capital I have some time before that film reaches me on DVD.
WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU WORKING ON?
I’ve got a poster series going on covering deforestation in Alabama, and the USA in general.
FINISH THIS STATEMENT: IF PEOPLE CHANGED ONE THING IN THEIR HOUSE TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT __________.
This one is pretty easy: change your lightbulbs. A CFL bulb versus a regular incandescent bulb will save as much energy as a 800,000 cars annually! It wouldn’t hurt to put on a sweatshirt instead of turning up the heat–plus it makes the electric bill easier to swallow.
